Math, Mystic, and Majesty

Math Mystic and Majesty

I love mystery, intrigue, and when people are willing to sacrifice for the things they believe in. It is why I love these books. I am always amazed at the level of historical detail in Roseanna M. White's books.
Brooke from The Lost Heiress makes an appearance.   The Lost Heiress is the first of Shadow’s Over England.   It takes place in England. Her  spy books are from the United States during war time where men and women sacrificed for that which the love of family and country.  Which is the common heart in all of her books.

Margot De While was first introduced in   A Song Unheard ,  Margot is a strong woman that has experienced hard times and lived with fear in German occupied belgium.  The Number Of Love  Margot’s story. Margot is living in war torn London and most of the people she knows have left the city.  Margot has a great gift that is useful for England's government. ,She is a part of a secret spy office and her job is to decrypt German messages that have been intercepted. .Margot finds her place in the secret office.
As she uses her gift that God has given her   Margot views life in the form of numbers.  God guides her with numbers as she seeks His will in every decision.  She feels an urging to pray for some of the secret agents as she decodes their reports.  It made me think about the things around me that God  may  urging that I need to pay attention to.  Who does God want  me praying for? I am not a math person, but I really enjoyed seeing the vast strength of the universe with the rules of numbers, I was cheering Margot on as she is the very picture of the separation between men and women, in a time when women were not valued for their brains . In spite of this, she knows that God has given her purpose.  Sometimes she struggles with that purpose and loses sight of it for a season. That is the key, it is only for a season
It makes me examine some of my actions,  I question myself "am I putting too much of me in the gifts and purpose that God has given me. ``  I am encouraged by the fact that sometimes we may lose sight of God but He never loses sight of me.

Author Review : Dani Petry Chesapeake Valor 4 Book Series

Up all Night Fiction by Dani Pettry

Chesapeake Valor is a 4 part series by award-winning Dani Pettry.

Still Shot  is the first one I read of the series and can be read as a stand-alone story (but why would you not read the others? I mean it is Dani Pettry. Suspense is what she does best)  Especially since it was such a great book I needed to see more of what was going so I went back to read the rest of the series, Blind Spot,  Dead Drift and Cold Shot (which is the first).
“In college, Griffin McCray and his three best friends had their lives planned out. Griffin and Luke Gallagher would join the Baltimore PD. Declan Gray would head to the FBI and Parker Mitchell would go on to graduate school as a crime scene analyst. But then Luke vanished before graduation and their world--and friendships--crumbled.” (Description from Amazon)

Cold-Shot-1.jpg

One of my favorite things about the books is they are a team   A terrorist attack is coming and each person is using their gifts to solve the plot and save the world from terrorists . Another thing really makes the books over the top Is that the book is written from more than one point of view. You get to hear the reasoning behind the good, the bad, and the ugly. Secrets are revealed and relationships are restored.

Each book in the series focuses on one of the friends. The storytelling is fabulous and there is great attention to detail from the science of crime scene investigation to the protocols.  The details to gun descriptions are spot on, as well as the processes of photography of the crime scenes.

The women in the book are strong and struggle with letting the men trying to protect them from the the terroist  plot to destroy our country I love how the struggles of our relationship with Christ are explored and dealt with, leaving you with a bigger understanding of who God is.  I love the zeal the characters have for God, even after experiencing some terrible things. Zeal for God is what Dani’s books are all about. The zeal for truth found in Jesus.

Did the bad guy get away? Are they going to find the bomb in time? Who is going to get shot next? Each time a new one comes out I reread the others first to make sure I remember all the character development.  I see something new to love every time.

I received these books complimentary from the publisher in return for my honest review. I love them so much I bought all four. Dani calls her books “up all night” and this is spot on as well because once you get started you stay up all night to read them. I mean what else are you going to do?  You opened it, right? It is like turning the movie off in the middle if you have to sleep.
Dani-Pettrey-The-Killing-Tide-Book.jpgI am looking forward to her new book The Killing Tide The first of The Coastal Guardians coming out sometime this summer.
Lovingly yours, Lara

Changes to My blog

Hi Gang,
There are varying opions on going back and doing a reproof on older posts.  Yes do it! No leave it it shows your growth.  Since I am in the developing business I choose to leave it as is.  I know that I am a different person than a year ago and I have not  posted anything except the book review for Leadershift, in over a year I will just leave it.
My biggest change was becoming a   Certified John Maxwell Coach, Speaker, and Trainer. I have met so many people and learned so many things.  I became aware of myself.  That inner awareness bring forth so many things.  I can see how much I need to grow and change my inner thoughts.

John C Maxwell and Leadershifts

"Leadershift: The 11 Essential Changes Every Leader Must Embrace"

I want to thank @harpercollinsleadership and #netgalley for the draft and final product and allowing me to be a part of the launch team. I preordered my copy so now I will have one to share. What I love about John Maxwell is his passion for people. He gets up in the morning thinking ‘how can I add value to someone today”. This book does that in spades.

#leadershiftbook
Leadershift is relevant to the new generation who require authentic communication before they will follow someone. They want simple not complicated. Of course most of us want simple right.  One thing he talks about is making plans. Have you ever made a really good plan towards to reach a goal but something doesn’t work. It doesn’t mean that it was the wrong goal it just means your plan is not working. Evaluate your failures “Leaders who cling to inflexibility in a plan stifle creativity and miss opportunities to be creative.” Test your ideas. Be creative and take two ideas put them together and test them. If they don’t work you will learn to make a shift to make a difference.
 I love this                                  !

I am reminded once again to evaluate my failures so that my creativity is not stifled. As an entrepreneur in the coaching world I must be authentic. It is what sets me apart. In my journey to adding value to people I have hit a wall many times sometimes it is as simple as making it more about me than other people. I know I will make many more. I will just get up,be humble, shift and fail forward. I am learning how to grow into different zones to be more productive and more value to people. This book is helping with that. I am a Certified John Maxwell coach and I am always learning something new. You get a very good look about who he is and how he has made mistakes and how he has learned to make small shifts that changed his trajectory. Don’t fall in the love with the plan. Learn how to overcome your failures. Learn how to lead the next generation. Learn to shift your thinking. Begin this by reading his book. Make sure you have markers because there are so many golden nuggets inside that put together will make you more successful in all the zones of your life.

Pictures of Joy

We are just past the four year mark in Texas. It has been a roller coaster ride for sure.  It is not what we thought it would be but, whatever is.  I found that not much in life is as expected.  We just have to roll with it.  Hopefully we learn to find joy in where we are.  Our capacity for joy is not where we are or who we are around.  It is not what we own or the want of what we want.  Our capacity for joy is based on how much of Jesus we have in our lives.  This thoughts of capactiy was inspired by the church service of Hope Fellowship

Some pic of joy of God beauty I have found in Texas.  Feel free to share but give proper attribution,  @ilaratx

Rise And Shine The Most fun Fairytale of the Summer. by Sandra D, Bricker

Rise And Shine is a Contemporary  Fairy Tale by Sandra D. Bricker.  Just like Sleeping Beauty she awakens after a long sleep with future protector by her side.  I love the Prince and Princess comments and the beginning of each chapter.  I read the book originally in E-Book  form but I enjoyed reading in paperback style better.  Her style of writing in this book Is like springtime.  Sandra gift of humor is what brings the fresh upbeat style to her books.  Shannon was in a coma for 10 yrs.  While she is asleep many things have passed her by.  So when she wakes up every thing is fresh and new and ready to bloom.

Before her accident Shannon had a love for the oldies Such as The Dick Van Dyke Show and I Love Lucy.  In the beginning she had amnesia   I really identify with Shannon in  that she was out of it for a long time and the world went on with out her.  Then one day she awoke and she did not know what had happened to her.  This was the beginning of an amazing adventure for her and those around her that love her.   Shannon had to find her identity in who she was in Christ and what God has for her to do outside of who she once was. Her best friend Izzie, well I wish we all could have a best friend/cheerleader like her.

The first book in her new series is If the Shoe Fits this fairy tale is looking for Prince Charming  .
I have not clicked with another of Sandra Bricker’s characters in this fashion since Sherilyn in Always The Wedding Planner Never The Bride  of The Emma Rae Collection.
Congratulations You now have the best summer reading book list Ever.    For a sample reading of her books click here

Why I love HP Hunger Games and Star Wars.

###########SPOILER ALERTS###########

Why I love HP Hunger Games and Star Wars.  They are pictures of love.  The power of love conquers in the end, Unconditional Love, Peeta’s love for Katniss is what saved her in the end.  Dandelion yellow beautiful blooms and matures and blows away to create more beauty. Shouldn’t we create the same kind of circle of life Their children as they danced on the meadow.
In the celebration with the Ewoks they danced.  In HP it is pictured with Albus Severus Potter. Snape loved Lily.  Enough to protect Harry even tho he though he was a little snot.  True Love.  Did he make a mistake very much so!!
Jesus loves us sacrificed all so we can live with Him.  Snape died so that Harry Could live.  Obi One died so that Luke could live.  Luke did this when he went to Darth Vader to turn him from the dark side.  Peeta gives up everything to protect her and make her happy.  Being willing to die for her to live and live free of guilt.  I think Suzanne Collins has created something special in Peeta.   Thank you Jesus for you loving me.

I LOVE Valentine's Day.

I just love February so many good things happen in February.  My daughter was born if February.  You begin to see a glimmer of hope that winter is drawing to a close (hopefully).  You also have February 14.  I love Valentines day.  I am single so I know that is unusual for most singles.  It is a time to celebrate love.  So many people are lonely this time of year they feel left out and unloved. Romantic commercials are on for what to do on this day that the media surrounds us as romantic love.  I choose to celebrate as the love of Christ.  He loves us no matter what we do.  He created us to have a relationship with Him.  He gave us free will.  Let this year be a year  to choose Him.  If you already have find someone else you know that will be alone and invite them to a party at your home or go to a movie.  If you cant find anyone just spend the evening reading His word and let his love surround and invade you.  Invite Him in.  Welcome Him in.

Erin Brocavich Eat your heart out.

Best Selling author Creston Mapes new book Poison Town comes out this month. I was given a copy for my honest review.  Honestly I LOVED it. I almost passed out several times. (from holding my breath).  The suspense was amazing and twisted and convoluted and thrilling and ... well you get the picture. I read his first book in this series Fear Has A Name.  It was surrounding Jack Crittendon also.  If you have read this book you will recognize a few special appearances.
Fear has a Name was full of suspense also.  I recommend it but it is not necessary to read Poison Town.  It does however put a few things in perspective in where Jack is in his spiritual walk and his tendency to go off the reservation.  The family ties just make your heart feel good.  Yes guys there are some feel good moments in them. Suspense and mystery make this a top ten book for 2013 (I read it early) and 2014 for me. Check out more here..

A Year of Brides A gift from Zondervan

A Year of Brides.  Zondervan has a year of Brides coming out in Novella form.  I have read January, February, and May.   The characters are very different in each one yet they have a theme.  The theme is marriage, duh. Not just the marriage to a man but a marriage to The Lamb of God.  We are the Bride of Christ. Each hero and heroine has their own struggles in preparing for the wedding day both here and That day when He calls His Bride.  I recommend this very highly as they are sweet and entertaining and at the same time inspiring to spend more time preparing for that day in drawing closer to Him now. Watch out each month for the new one. You don't want to miss a single one.  Here

Saving Savannah Book Review

I love stories placed in New Orleans. I love the women in this book they don't give up they push for what they believe in.  Tante LuLu will not give up.  She is very brazen as she follows on what she believes her mission from God is.  I haven't ever read anything  in this series before but I am looking forward to more of Tante LULU's mischief matchmaking and more of Gods grace that she shows. Saving Savanah Sandra HIll

Ronie Kendig and her Rapid Fire Action an author review.

I am so hooked on books by .Ronie Kendig. She has a gift of showing how God takes our weakness to make us strong.  What I like most is the second chances that her characters always get even when they don’t deserve it.   She shows how God will heal our deepest hurts and how if we let  God move our life can be good again.  Her gift for research shows in the incredible amount of accurate minute detail.
I have been honored to be able to read the galleys to some of her books.  What I don’t like is when I have to wait for the next one to come out.
Her book series are a tapestry that work together to show how people can work together  for a common goal where forgiveness and grace are found.
In Discarded Heroes she has woven together men that have served our country and no longer have a place. They are provided a place to serve and find healing.  She created a team and a family.
In the n A Breed Apart
She has  created determined women on a mission  to save the world with a dog.  Not just any dog but a war dog.  The first in the series is Trinity which introduces us to the A Breed Apart family.
The second book Talon  takes Aspen Courtland, who was introduced in Trinity the Wardog Talon suffers from PTSD.  The journey in this book takes you on a healing journey.  Leaving you with a intro to the story of Beowulf starring Timbrel. and her dog Beowulf
.. At the time of the publishing of this review Beowulf  has not been published and cannot share. but I have read it and all I can say is WOW.
